Parallel session
Labour market and employment

This session discusses the labour market implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated policies from a macro- and microeconomic perspective.

The panel of speakers will present evidence from large cross-country datasets to provide novel insights on how the impact on employment outcomes and worker mobility has varied between countries, depending on structural factors, the policy stringency level, and the adoption of counteracting support measures.

These findings will be paired with in-depth case studies―covering a set of countries in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa―that highlight important heterogeneities in the impact between groups of workers depending on the type, location, and degree of formalization of economic activities as well as demographic characteristics.
