Recent UNU-WIDER report on 2015 SME survey in Viet Nam gets attention in local media

As part of the Structural transformation and inclusive growth in Viet Nam project, the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA) and UNU-WIDER launched on 9 November 2016 in Hanoi the report 'Characteristics of the Vietnamese Business Environment: Evidence from a SME Survey in 2015'.

This report represents the sixth time that the small and medium enterprise (SME) survey has been conducted. The fieldwork behind this document consisted of face-to-face interviews with around 2,500 small and medium sized non-state enterprises operating in the manufacturing sector within ten provinces of the country.

Since the launch of the report, Vietnamese local media has extensively covered the main findings. The coverage highlights the improvements that have taken place across several important dimensions of the business environment and the challenges for the future, which include the limited access to credit and bribe-paying practices.
