Laurence Harris is Professor of Economics in the Department of Financial and Management Studies at SOAS, University of London and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. He is also the founder of the Centre for Financial and Management Studies. He previously taught at the London School of Economics, University of California Berkeley, Harvard University, Birkbeck University of London, the Open University, and University of Zimbabwe. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge and the International Monetary Fund and visiting professor at the Kobe University and the University of Rome.
Professor Harris’s research interests are finance, banking and macroeconomics in industrialised and developing countries. His publications include books, articles and book chapters in those and other fields. Examples include: ‘The Dynamics of Globalization: Eight Sceptical Theses’; ‘Non-Linearity in the Determinants of Capital Structure: Evidence from UK Firms’; ‘Capital structure in South Korea: a Quantile Regression Approach’; ‘Financial Development and Economic Growth: International Evidence and Policy Implications for Africa’.
