Tony Addison at the 18th Plenary Meeting of the OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development

Tony Addison at the 18th Plenary Meeting of the OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development

Tony Addison represents UNU-WIDER as one of the invited partner organizations and institutions in the OECD’s Policy Dialogue on Natural Resources Development, which will take place online on 27-28 June 2022. This dialogue is part of the OECD Strategy on Development adopted at ministerial level in May 2012.

At the meeting, Professor Addisson introduces a session on Restructuring fiscal frameworks to optimise domestic resource mobilisation, attract low-carbon investment and and build redistributive taxation systems in developing fossil fuel developing countries, discussing the fiscal dimensions of extractives and utilising findings from UNU-WIDER's SA-TIED progamme.

The OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development (PD-NR) offers an intergovernmental platform for peer learning and knowledge sharing where OECD and non-OECD producing countries, in consultation with extractive industries, civil society organisations, and think tanks, can craft innovative and collaborative solutions for resource-based development. The work and analysis of the Policy Dialogue also feeds into other international processes such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the G7 CONNEX Initiative, the G20 Development Working Group and the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group.
