Heikki Palviainen, Doctoral Researcher at the Tampere University, presented the collaborative research paper on the Effects of a Risk-based Approach to Tax Examinations in Tanzania, at the Nordic Development Conference (NCDE) on 16 June 2021. The conference was organised digitally.
Heikki Palviainen presented the paper at the parallel session on taxes and transfers. The research paper is authored together with Research Associate Amina Ebrahim and Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow Jukka Pirttilä (UNU-WIDER), with researchers Elineema Kisanga and Vincent Leyaro (University of Dar es Salaam), and with Ephraim Mdee, Edwin Mhede and Ezekiel Swema (Tanzania Revenue Authority). The research paper will be published as part of the UNU-WIDER's tax administrative data collaboration starting in Tanzania.
The 19th NCDE conference was organised by Chr. Michelsen Institute, the Department of Economics at the University of Bergen, and Centre for Experimental Research on Fairness, Inequality and Rationality (FAIR) on 15-16 June 2021. The event is attended by PhD candidates, academia, policy makers and international organisations.
The presentation was part of the UNU-WIDER project Building up efficient and fair taxation. The project is part of UNU-WIDER's programme on Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM). The DRM programme is financed by the Norwegian development co-operation agency Norad.
