Researchers from extractives project present at Chatham House

Researchers from UNU-WIDER project on extractives will give presentations at Chatham House on 18 October

Chatham House is organizing a special event entitled Realizing the potential of extractives for industrial and economic development on 18 October in London.

Opening remarks will be given by Tony Addison, Chief Economist and Deputy Director of UNU-WIDER. Other speakers at the seminar are UNU-WIDER Non-Resident Senior Research Fellows Alan Roe and Evelyn Dietsche, and UNCTAD Consultant Olle Östensson. The event is chaired by Glada Lahn, Senior Research Fellow of Chatham House.

Each of the speakers are chapter authors of a new UNU-WIDER book Extractive Industries: The Management of Resources as a Driver of Sustainable Development, edited by Tony Addison and Alan Roe, published by Oxford University Press. The seminar is gathered around the themes of the book: the challenges and opportunities facing developing countries in using oil, gas, and mining to achieve inclusive change. The book emanates from the UNU-WIDER project Extractives for Development.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
