Online introduction to SAMOD

A South African tax-benefit microsimulation model

Online introduction to SAMOD, a South African tax-benefit microsimulation model

As part of the SA-TIED programme, UNU‐WIDER and the Southern African Social Policy Research Insights (SASPRI) are holding a training event for staff at the National Treasury and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) on SAMOD, a South African tax-benefit microsimulation model.

The self-paced online course will introduce participants to SAMOD, with a view to promoting its use within government for evidence‐based policy-making. Attendees will acquire an appreciation of how to navigate and interpret the SAMOD user interface; an ability to run SAMOD and analyse the output data using Statistics Presenter; and the ability to implement a policy reform.
