On 4 March 2019, researchers and experts from UNU-WIDER, UONGOZI, and Tanzania will gather in Dar es Salaam to discuss the details of a collaborative research project between the two institutes.
The objective of the project is to facilitate the development and implementation of public policies that promote economic transformation and inclusive growth in Tanzania and the Eastern African region. To achieve this goal UNU-WIDER will work together with UONGOZI to enhance research capacity and advance policy development to respond to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The research will focus on areas pertaining to macroeconomics, extractives, industrialization, sustainable livelihoods— with gender as a cross-cutting issue. Exact research topics and a forward-moving plan will be formulated at the workshop.
