Kunal Sen on institutions and development

UNU-WIDER Director Kunal Sen gives a lecture to the staff of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). The topic  of the lecture is Institutions and development.

In his presentation Kunal Sen will discuss the role of institutions in delivering development. Institutions are widely regarded as the deep determinant of economic development, but the literature remains unclear on how institutions should be defined, and how institutions are causal to economic development. The lecture will review the evolution of thinking on institutions and development, and what this means for policy.

This event is part of UNU-WIDER's The domestic savings shortfall in developing countries – what can be done about it? project. The project on domestic savings is implemented by UNU-WIDER in partnership with KIPPRA, with financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), and is part of a larger Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM) programme.
