ECUAMOD webinar on the effect of COVID-19 on poverty and inequality

ECUAMOD, the tax-benefit microsimulation model for Ecuador was presented in a Spanish speaking webinar on 30 July 2020. The model was presented by the ECUAMOD national team from FLACSO and by a specialist from the  University of Essex, the senior partner organization.

The objective of the meeting was to present preliminary results on the potential impact of COVID-19 on poverty and inequality in Ecuador based on ECUAMOD. The topic is of relevance for academics and policy makers in the country to debate about the need for further social protection in the context of the COVID pandemic.

The participants included academics, policy makers, graduate and post-graduate students, and general public.

ECUAMOD, developed as part of the SOUTHMOD project, is an essential tool to assess the distributional impact of COVID-19 in Ecuador and to assess the mitigating effect of tax-benefit policies.
