Caroline Schimanski on taxing multinational corporations in Uganda


World Bank's hybrid conference on global tax equity is organized on 22-23 September 2022. Caroline Schimanski, a World Bank and African Development Bank consultant, gives a presentation on a WIDER Working Paper at the conference.

The topic of Schimanski's presentation is The case of taxing multinational corporations in Uganda - Do multinational corporations face lower effective tax rates and is there evidence for profit shifting?.

The conference brings together leading researchers and policy makers to discuss recent research on making tax systems more equitable at a global scale. The keynote address of the conference is delivered by Professor Gabriel Zucman, Associate Professor of Economics, University of California, Berkeley.

The conference features reserch presentations and academic discussions, and a special policy session featuring presentations from policymakers and practicioners on tax policy and lessons learner.

The presentation is part of UNU-WIDER's Building up efficient and fair tax systems – lessons based on administrative tax data project, which is one workstream under UNU-WIDER's programme on Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM). The DRM programme is financed by the Norwegian development co-operation agency Norad.
