Aid and Growth in Perspective

Paris Sorbonne Sustainable Development Seminar (PSSDS) on 5 April 2018
A lecture by Professor Finn Tarp, UNU-WIDER Director, on 5 April 2018 at the Paris Sorbonne Sustainable Development Seminar on the topic ’Aid and Growth in Perspective’.

In this lecture, Finn Tarp presents an overview of more than 50 years of aid effectiveness research by summarizing and addressing some of the major studies that have influenced popular understanding of what the literature has to say about aid’s impact on growth and development, and why this understanding has often been inadequate. A careful assessment of the evidence provides a much more coherent, balanced, and convincing understanding than often assumed.
